Can We Relax in the Face of Uncertainty?

I wrote this article in the days before Donald Trump was inaugurated. It seems that a lot of what many feared is still in process of manifesting itself. However, we can still shift the balance if we hold tight to what is right.

Can we relax in the face of uncertainty? This is a question I heard posed today. I and many others have allowed our emotions to control us during the recent election and the aftermath to date. Most of these emotions stem from our fear of the future. However, if I am going to trust in what I believe, then I have to believe that the Light has more power than the Darkness. I also have to believe that when a time in our history is coming to an end, in other words, when the Light is gaining on the Darkness, that the Darkness in its many forms will strike out in many deleterious ways to push back the Light.

We've seen this happening in our recent election and around the world. It is particularly distressing to us as Americans because we have not experienced here the horrors that Hitler brought into this world, horrors that changed the mindset around the globe after two world wars. It is very possible that our president-elect is yet another example of someone who represents the frantic, over-the-top effort of the Darkness to keep the Light in check.

If we continue to allow our emotions to be invested in reactions to the Darkness in whatever form it takes, we will be aiding their effort. Our emotions are energy. The world is energy. Let us not invest our energies in their efforts. I know this is a difficult concept because so many of the things that are happening and are proposed create fear. For those who are guided by scripture, recall Job's words that what he feared had come upon him. He added negative energy to the thing he feared until its level of energy made it possible for it to manifest in his world. The same will be true for us. Regardless of what is happening out there, we have to have faith in the high road, however you define this. Even those who do not believe in a Higher Power must trust in the power of good over evil.

After struggling to separate myself from  the events of recent months, I have come to believe that these circumstances have the possibility of restructuring (perhaps through desperate times) how we treat each other, how much we begin to recognize the humanity in everyone regardless of the outer differences or inner beliefs. This could well herald a portentous time in our timeline. The outcome may well depend on how tightly those of us who believe in good, in the Light, hold to our beliefs.

I have been studying the human psyche and its wonderful and often frustrating journey for over four decades. It was only natural that my love of writing and teaching became part of this journey.

My writings are dedicated to those who are willing to search  outside the box for meaning in their lives, who are willing to shift their view of the world just enough to recognize they are unique expressions, and who are willing to do the inner work to improve their understanding of who they are.

I will read forever because it lets me visit in my mind the worlds that I will never be able to see; it helps me put away the stresses of the day and relax into the rhythm of the story before me; it lets me bring to the surface and experience without regrets those feelings I hide away; it lets me re-experience the thrill of first love through someone else's eyes; it keeps my mind juiced so that it will never desert me; it is always there for me even when there's no one else. I will read forever no matter whether it is print or digital because the words will always call to me. ~ A Sassy Scribbler
