Brita Madison Paranormal Mysteries Series
Chasing Shadows by Dannye Williamsen
Only the living are so persistent. The dead seem to understand that time is no longer an issue for them.
Brita is at best a reluctant psychic, and Chief of Police James Weston is the "poster boy for conservative." Can he accept the unimaginable? Brita Madison has found a sanctuary in Williams, Arizona, a refuge from the multitude of visions and voices that have chased her all her life. Then one vision touches her soul, and she finds herself embroiled in the middle of a missing person's case with a woman’s life at stake. Little does she know that this is only the beginning. Brita's visions uncover a trail of murders centered around historic Route 66. As Brita steps deeper into the world she has been trying to escape, she and Weston are in a race against time to identify the serial killer. This journey threatens to tear apart their lives as well as those closest to them. "Chasing after the shadows left behind by sick minds was damaging to one's soul when you were just following the clues. Vicariously experiencing the trauma through visions like Brita's would have to tear at the very fabric of your being." – Chief of Police James Weston |
Shattered Hearts by Dannye Williamsen
Brita Madison's venture into the darkness with Zachary Tyler in Chasing Shadows has brought her into a new relationship with her paranormal abilities. Solving the murders of five women and nearly losing her own life has changed her world dramatically. Her new friendships with Chief of Police James Weston and Roger Dawson, her romance with Sam Jenkins, and her new circle of paranormal-writing clients and friends has given her a new confidence in herself as a woman, a medium, and an editor. She no longer feels ostracized from the world.
Now Brita is getting together in Phoenix with those five women who asked her to edit their books in Chasing Shadows. Turns out that talking about their writing careers falls by the wayside. A young ghost boy appears to Brita with a shocking story of kidnapped boys. Before they know it, all five women, who each have abilities of their own, are drawn into the search for answers with Brita. Brita’s newfound courage is pushed to the limits. The ghost boy ignites an adventure which drags everyone in her world into the dark underbelly of a pedophile ring. Brita’s recklessness plunges her into a life-threatening situation. Like falling dominoes, her women friends, her boyfriend Sam, and her unofficial partner, James Weston are put in the crosshairs. Her friends are challenged to expand their abilities to save their friend and the kidnapped boys. Many hearts will be shattered before this case is put to rest. Writing this book was a heart-wrenching experience. My empathy for the ghost boy and the passion of the others in their search for the kidnapped boys was a deeply emotional journey. As an author, I can only hope it touches you as deeply. |
Unraveling Memories by Dannye Williamsen
Brita Madison has come a long way since she first met James Weston five years ago. After nearly being killed twice and losing her best friend James at the hand of an evil pedophile, she appreciates the slower pace of her interactions with the spirit world since moving to Phoenix with her new husband, Sam Jenkins. All that comes crashing down when the past returns with a vengeance, threatening her family and friends.
As if to make up for lost time, spirits begin showing up whose muddled memories test the resolve of Brita and her friends, old and new, to meet the challenges from the past and the present. Confronted by yet another ghost whose malevolence stretches across decades, the course of their lives changes. This is the last novel in the Brita Madison Paranormal Mysteries series at present. With all that has gone on in my life as a caregiver, especially after 2017, I have not been in the right mindset to continue this series. If I do continue it, I know I will enjoy the experience just as much as before. |
The Evolution of a Slingshot - From a Toy to a Catalyst for Change by John Dean Williamsen
The Evolution of a Slingshot is a coming of age/mystery story of a boy whose life is often as raw and unfettered as the times. He lives in a world of tarpaper shacks and basement homes, of dusty roads and outhouses, of poverty and optimism, of the American Dream and justice snubbed.
In the late 1940s, while the country is recovering from the Great Depression and World War II, an eleven-year-old boy is simply trying to survive his small town world in Illinois. The great tragedy in his life has been the mysterious murder of his father, which has turned his world upside-down. The fear that grows out of his loss leads him to cling to his brother, Ray, as a substitute father figure. Unfortunately, Ray is only four years older, and while seeking retribution for his father’s death, he is also struggling with his family’s expectations of his filling his father’s shoes. After watching the way Ray handles the situation when Jake is attacked on his paper route, Jake recognizes how self-destructive his brother’s anger can be, and he is afraid for him. This strengthens Jake’s resolve to handle his problems himself. The slingshot, which was once a toy to Jake, has now become his only means of defense. His life continues to offer him opportunities to choose how to deal with confrontations and the loss of others close to him. His struggle to make the right choices transforms his relationship with his slingshot. It is this evolving relationship that mirrors the changes in Jake’s inner psychology—the changes which mold his personality and shape his ideas of right and wrong. When he finds himself at the decisive moment where he has the means to avenge the wrongs his family has suffered, what will his decision be? His future now hinges on the choices he makes. |
"This book speaks to living in poverty and overcoming that, unspeakable horrors perpetrated on people and the bravery it takes to help them, the love and loss between a boy and his family and friends, coming to a crossroad in a young boy's life and having to make a very adult decision at that one moment in time that will follow him through his life forever. But most of all, surviving all of these obstacles with beauty and grace. This was a beautifully written novel, and I highly recommend it." - Sandy Wolters
