Move it! Move it!

Polarity is the universal stressor.  If nothing is happening in your life and you seem to be experiencing the same day over and over, you are not using the power of polarity.  If you find that your dreams are not manifesting, you are not utilizing one of your greatest creative tools - the power of polarity. The deliberate application of this Principle to your life will enhance and energize you and your experiences beyond your wildest dreams.

Einstein said, “nothing happens until it moves.”  He was referring to the idea that you are surrounded by an unlimited potential that lies dormant until it has a reason to move. Although I am not being presumptuous when I say that this possibility is waiting for you to move it, the question is, “how do you move this possibility into your life?” The means for this migration is given to you in Genesis when God separated the light from the darkness because this was the act that created the Principle of Polarity. The prevalent thought is that God created night and day in this stage of  creation. Rather than night and day, He created the polarization of energy necessary for light to happen—the  Principle of  Polarity upon which the idea of light, or illumination, is founded. Without this Principle of Polarity, there would be no light, no new understanding.  Without polarity, nothing happens; nothing moves.

This separation of light from the darkness is a metaphor describing the polarization of energy necessary for the movement of a passive potential into the world of expression. As we said, nothing moves until some kind of force or stress moves it.

You can get an idea of how  polarity works  by a cursory look at how a car battery works. Basically, all car batteries have two terminals, a positive and a negative. In a fully charged battery, the negative terminal has an excess of energy units called electrons, and the positive terminal has a deficiency of these electrons.  Because the universe dislikes imbalance, the drive is for the excess electrons on the negative terminal to flow to the deficiency on the positive terminal to achieve equilibrium. If you have had the
unfortunate experience of being the connecting link between these two terminals,  you have experienced firsthand the energizing flow of electrons from one terminal to the other.
This deficiency of electrons on one side and excess on the other creates a pressure, or polarity, measured in volts.  Electrical engineers designed the battery so no direct flow through the base of the battery can achieve this balance. What they did is electronically place the car and all its electrical devices between the two terminals. As  electrons flow (through the car) from the negative terminal to the positive terminal, they energize the motor, air conditioner, radio, CD player and all the other paraphernalia in cars these days. The car's alternator, when the engine is running, pumps electrons to the negative side of the battery so that balance is never achieved, and the full 12 volts of polarity is maintained so you can continue to burn up all that over-priced gas.

How Does Polarity Work in Your Life?
Okay, so how do you get  polarity to work in your life? Remember that polarity is created because of contrast or imbalance. If  the most exciting thing you do is watch the screen saver on your PC, there is a pretty good chance you need some polarity in your life. Watching the so-called reality shows on television puts money in the  producer's pocket but does nothing for putting polarity in your life.

You add the power of polarity in your life with ideas—ideas that challenge you and create contrast between where you are and where you want to be or what you want to experience. We live in a world that has emerged out of the polarity created by ideas. If you look around the room that you are in, you will see that everything in it came from an idea. The pen, the computer as well as the software, the clock on the wall, the pictures, television, cell phone, and the watch on your wrist all came from ideas. The building you are in emerged from the idea being put into a blueprint. Even you are an idea that was initiated in the Mind of God.

Every idea knows how to complete itself. Just like any seed, it will grow into maturity if put into the right environment. Ideas mature through your use of the Creative Process.
Do you recall King Julian, the cartoon character from the movie Madagascar? He had the right message: Move it! Move it!

Feeling Inferior Can Be a Good Thing

There was a man who went to a therapist because he worried others saw him as inferior.  After some time, the counselor gave up on therapy and decided to send him for intensive testing. When the testing was complete, the counselor called him into the office. She said, "Sir I have some good news, and I have some bad news. The good news is that you no longer need to worry about being seen as inferior. The bad news is the testing has indicated that you are indeed inferior."

Laughter might be your immediate reaction to this story, but for many it hits too close to home to be funny. Many people spend their lives dealing with the limitations caused by subtle feelings of not measuring up. They feel they can't handle life and its ups and downs, that someone else is better than they are, that they don't have the talent, education, background, etc. to be successful. Well, I'm here to tell you that an inferiority complex can be the best thing that can happen to you!

First, what is an inferiority complex anyway? It's a series of feelings centered around one central idea:  a lack of belief in ourselves. In other words, we don’t trust that we can handle life. We’re afraid we're not adequate in some or all areas.

How do we get an inferiority complex? Most psychologists say that we become tainted early in life. When parents try to correct behavior, they do not always realize they are actually attacking a child's sense of self. In other words, they don't separate the behavior from what and who the child is — a child of God. These kinds of actions — whether from a parent or someone else — can make an impression on a young mind that somehow they do not measure up, that there is something wrong with them.

Picture
It's not that uncommon that we use the same criteria to judge ourselves that our parents did. We carry a big "I don't measure up" around with us. The most important thing for us to remember is that these feelings of inferiority are a figment of our imaginations — a ghost of the past that we are somehow holding in our consciousness.

The innate spiritual awareness you and I have of being a child of God with unlimited resources creates a conflict in our consciousness with these feelings of inferiority. This conflict, this contrast, is a powerful tool offered by Spirit. It forces us to face the fact that these are choices we are making and how they are dwarfing our lives.

Picture
Feelings of inferiority and how they can dwarf our lives reminds me of the art form associated with the Bonsai tree. A Bonsai tree is not small by nature. It's grown from regular stock and seeds and carefully groomed to mimic the shape and style of mature, full-sized trees. A conscious choice is made by the gardener to keep it small, and much energy is invested in this decision.

Our states of mind are grown from regular "stock and seeds," just like the Bonsai. As the gardeners of our life, our attitudes toward ourselves determine whether we grow to our full potential or choose to live in a state of inferiority.

"God don't make no junk." What an appropriate colloquialism! We were indeed made in the image and likeness of an unlimited possibility — God. How could we possibly be inferior except by choice? Letting our negative feelings — boredom, fear, anger — determine our actions will stunt our personal growth.

We are rarely afraid of what is happening in our life. We are more afraid that we can't handle it. Giving in to this fear reinforces feelings of inadequacy.

Refusing to listen to the ghost of the past as it rehearses our "failures" is the first step toward dispelling these unhealthy states of mind. Instead, we should look for the gift in our so-called mistakes by recognizing what didn't work for us.

So, as I said, an inferiority complex can be the best thing to ever happen to us! Why do I say this?

  • It presents us with an opportunity for contrast, which is necessary to establish a clear vision of what we want to express in our lives.
  • It offers us the wisdom gleaned from our active efforts to believe in ourselves.
  • It is a powerful motivator for change.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Imagine that you’re standing before a magic mirror and you ask, “Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?” Then it replies, “You have got to be kidding!” Of course, I don’t think this is going to happen, but what if you looked into the mirror in the morning and saw someone else’s image besides your own? Would you be shocked, or would you consider it a blessing?

In real life we know that a mirror always reflects what is put before it—what we see is what we get, so to speak. But what would happen if you had a mirror that told you who you are rather than what you look like? How often would you have the courage to look at it?

In a sense, your life is like a mirror that tells you who you are rather than what you imagine yourself to be. Your experiences, social relationships, and financial status are reflections of who you are. Of course, who you are is a mix of thoughts and feelings. You are aware of some of these, but most you aren’t because much of what you call conscious thought is more of a habit. To a degree you can change your world by manipulating your outer experiences. Real change, however, is much more complex. This change requires that you go to the source, which is a blending of your thoughts and feelings.

A Thinking Center

You are a thinking center within the infinite mind of God. This sounds pretty highfalutin, but it’s true. Ernest Holmes said, “There is a power in the universe greater than you are, and you can use it.“ In truth, you are always using this power whether you know it or not. After all, you’re always thinking something. You can couple your thoughts and feelings with the creativity of the Universe to shape your world like air shapes a balloon. It’s up to you whether the thoughts and feelings flowing into your “balloon” are twisted and distorted or represent your heart’s desire or what is best for you.

Remember that your life is like the mirror on the wall. It is reflecting back to you the result of those thoughts and feelings you joined with the creative energy of the Universe. This same energy is open to manifesting your greatest experience as well as your greatest disaster.

A Mental Equivalent

Put in simple terms, everything in your life is the result of a mental equivalent—a reflection of an attitude held in your mind that attracts the circumstances to support it. So, if you desire something in your life, you must develop the mental equivalent for it. If you desire something removed, you must reduce the energy you put into it by focusing on what you do want. If you want radiant health, you must create the mental equivalent of health. If you want prosperity, you must create the mental equivalent of abundance.

In some instances, your mental equivalent obscures your true potential because you are seeing the world and the people in it through the haze of frustration. You always determine the level on which you interact with people. If you make contact on the level of consciousness that another person appears to function, then you are locked within the framework of this level. In other words, you are allowing them to decide your reaction to them. You cannot change other people, but you do have complete control over your reaction to them. Changing your reactions to circumstances is a crucial step in personal change. What happens when you change? You begin living a different life.

Levels of Awareness

Jesus said that there are many mansions in the kingdom, and that this kingdom is within. He was saying that in us there are many levels of awareness (kingdoms). We choose the level in which we wish to exist. In the Bible it talks of an encounter Jesus had with a dastardly character named Zacharias. Zacharias was a New Testament version of Scrooge. He was a grasping, greedy materialist. After talking with Jesus, he saw the error of his ways and decided to return with interest all he had gotten from his crafty thievery.

If you precondition your contact with a person with an attitude of mistrust, the mental equivalent will return a reason for you not to trust them. If you precondition your contact with this attitude— “I am established in the flow with God and all people”— it does not guarantee your world will be completely peaceful and harmonious, but it will get that way. You can never change the world, but you can change the feeling you have about it. Changing the feeling you have about the world changes what you see in it and your feelings about it, and this changes what you attract.

Once you change yourself, you affect those around you who are receptive to new ways of being. Jesus always saw the best in people—even the Pharisees. What did Jesus tell Zacharias? We don’t know, but he might have said, “Zacharias, my friend, you are a much better person than you know. The fact that you made such an effort to see me proves that you have the right stuff and are ready to change.” It’s interesting to note that Zacharias means “Jehovah has penetrated.”

WYSIWYG

“Two men look out through the same bars: one sees mud, and the other stars.” What you see is what you’ll get. Life is your mirror, and it gives you a perfect image of whatever you are thinking, imaging, and feeling. You are a unique creative center in the universe. No one can bring the same ideas into being that you can because you are one of a kind. So, use your life as your mirror to determine your mental equivalent. Let it be your litmus test, indicating where you need to refine your thoughts and feelings to better express who you are.

Quit Thinking About It ... Do Something!

5/4/2023

We've talked about the necessity for looking forward rather than looking back over your shoulder. Well, another thing to remember is that once you look forward, you must do more than think about it!

Oh, I know, you want to make sure you've thought it through before you do anything. I would say that's understandable - however, I have met way too many people who never get beyond thinking about it. I mean they don't even put their thoughts down on paper in any fashion, orderly or otherwise.

When I talk to people about the Creative Process, I explain that it’s a mental process first and a physical process second. So, yes, you do have to think about what you want first. However, putting it on paper starts to take it from the metaphysical to the physical. It helps you during the time of your mental work to be able to imagine your ideas as a reality. It begins to take on shape and color in your mind.

Putting your ideas on paper takes you out of the comfort zone of your private thoughts. It helps you develop clarity about what you want. This is one of the primary reasons for preparing a business plan. It forces you to put your ideas down in black and white so that any flaws can be spotted. Otherwise, it's easy to "do a little sidestep" [Charles Durning] and set yourself up for failure.

The longer you wait to quit thinking about what you want and do something about it, the more resistance you will encounter within yourself. Refusing to take action, to commit yourself to your goal, gives all those "voices" of resistance within you more time to discourage you. Beat them to the punch by taking action: write your plan down, work it through, and start putting it into effect.

I will read forever because it lets me visit in my mind the worlds that I will never be able to see; it helps me put away the stresses of the day and relax into the rhythm of the story before me; it lets me bring to the surface and experience without regrets those feelings I hide away; it lets me re-experience the thrill of first love through someone else's eyes; it keeps my mind juiced so that it will never desert me; it is always there for me even when there's no one else. I will read forever no matter whether it is print or digital because the words will always call to me. ~ A Sassy Scribbler
